Our Workplaces and Communities

Connecting People, Protecting Planet

We believe that a sustainable future starts with a safe and supportive present. Our workplaces are defined by family-friendly policies and a philosophy that mirrors our commitment to SDG 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth) and SDG 5 (Gender Equality).

We champion a workplace where wellbeing and social responsibility intersect. Through flagship initiatives to promote diversity and inclusion (D&I) we ensure that our corporate citizenship translates into real-world opportunities for all. Together, we are building a connected community where respect and equity are the standard.

Ascend represents a first-of-its-kind commitment to gender diversity in Pakistan’s engineering sector. By offering full academic scholarships and career-track internships to female students at NED University of Engineering & Technology (Karachi) and Mehran University of Engineering & Technology (MUET), the Company actively bridges the gender gap in STEM, fostering a new generation of female engineers from graduation through to their careers.

Furthering our commitment to workplace diversity, the Company launched the PurAzm programme in 2023. This initiative, organised in partnership with NOWPDP, offers Persons with Disabilities (PwDs) comprehensive three-year internships, fostering an inclusive environment in which talent is nurtured regardless of physical ability.

Volunteering activities are regularly conducted in the areas of promoting STEAM education and health, primarily. The company’s CSR initiatives resulted in impacting 4,800+ beneficiaries, with over 1,400 hours of social service.

A Reel On Karachi : Art Installations in the City by Pakistan Cables centers around cable reels provided by Pakistan Cables for Reel On Hai, a Public Outreach initiative by the Karachi Biennale Trust. Empty cable reels have been recycled into art installations by local and international artists and placed across Karachi. The book takes its readers on a journey across diverse real locations and documents the areas, culture, landmarks, and rich heritage that surround the reels. It also includes thought-provoking facts and anecdotes, contributed by renowned architect-activist-urban planner, Arif Hasan. To read online, click here or download a copy, click here

World Environment Day and International Forest Day are marked with various employee engagement activities, such as the Pakistan Cables Children’s Art Contest to create awareness around the issues.
